Desde el Payson Campus, Eastern Arizona College, recibimos la invitación a participar en el Maui (Hawái) Astronomy Research Seminar, invitación especialmente dirigida a astrónomos amateur y estudiantes.

Este seminario, que se lleva a cabo en formato híbrido (Zoom/Maui), está compuesto por astrónomos aficionados, estudiantes universitarios e instructores profesionales, y está descubriendo nuevas estrellas binarias. El seminario consta de seis sesiones vespertinas de una hora por Zoom, seguidas de un taller de investigación presencial de tres días, del 21 al 23 de febrero de 2026 en Maui, Hawái, que incluye una visita a los telescopios de la cumbre de Haleakalā. Los participantes analizarán observaciones originales de interferometría de moteado de estrellas de dos parámetros de Gaia, obtenidas en el Observatorio del Monte Wilson, y contribuirán como coautores a un artículo de investigación revisado por pares.

La inscripción al Seminario se realiza a través del Gila Community College, como se indica al final del anuncio. También se adjunta un artículo que está a punto de ser enviado para su publicación y que "describe nuestro programa de investigación general. Con gusto responderé cualquier pregunta. I am writing to invite members of your society, especially amateur astronomers and students, to participate in the Maui Astronomy Research Seminar, a hybrid Zoom/Maui in-person research team of amateur astronomers, college students, and professional instructors that is discovering new binary stars. The seminar consists of six one-hour evening Zoom sessions followed by a three-day in-person research workshop February 21-23, 2026, in Maui, Hawaii, that includes a tour of Haleakalā summit telescopes. Participants will analyze original speckle interferometry observations of Gaia two-parameter stars obtained at Mt. Wilson Observatory and contribute as coauthors to a peer-reviewed research paper.

I would be grateful if you would share the attached announcement with your members. Registration for the Seminar is through Gila Community College as outlined at the very end of the announcement. I’ve also attached a paper about to be sent off for publication that describes our overall research program. I would also be happy to answer any questions.
